St. Louis Amateur Hockey Hall of Fame

Tom Stillman, a lifelong hockey fan, has been Chairman and Governor of the St. Louis Blues since May 9, 2012. Tom is also Chairman and CEO of Summit Distributing, a St. Louis-based beer distributor. He entered the beer business in 1994 with the acquisition of a local wholesaler. Tom was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont, where he played hockey and soccer before graduating in 1974. He then went to law school, graduating from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1978. Subsequently, Tom worked as a lawyer in New York and Washington, D.C. Tom and his family moved to St. Louis 22 years ago, and a year later Tom left the practice of law for the beer distribution business. Years later, in 2007, Tom joined the previous Blues ownership as a minority partner. In May 2012, Tom led a group of local business people in purchasing the Blues franchise. The group was motivated more by civic concerns than business interests. The all-local ownership group sees the Blues as an important civic asset that makes tremendous contributions to St. Louis, and they want to make sure the franchise will continue making those contributions for many years to come. Were 16 St. Louisans who think the Blues are good for St. Louis and want to make sure theyre here for a long time. At the time of the Team purchase, Tom said, We come to this with a real love for the game of hockey and a special passion for Blues hockey. Most of the members of our group are lifelong Blues fans. Everybody in the group has season tickets or a suite or both. At least three of us, old and slow as we may be, still play every now and then. This is a group that loves hockey and loves the Blues. Over the last three years, the group has made significant progress in improving the financial health of the franchise. Tom is a regular skater each week with the St Louis Blues Alumni and is an active participant at local hockey charity events. Tom and his wife, Mary live in St. Louis and have three children: John, Isabelle, and Anna. Tom serves on the boards of the St. Louis Blues 14 Fund; Commerce Bank, St. Louis Region; the St. Louis Sports Commission; Logos School; and the Nature Conservancy in Missouri.
